The Prince and Princess of Wales are already giving royal fans a “glimpse into the future” during their recent engagements, according to a royal expert.
Taking centre stage over the past few weeks, William and Kate have been spotted doing what they do best – attending royal engagements. With William next in line to the royal throne, the couple will one day become head of the Royal Family.
According to the Daily Mail’s diary editor Richard Eden, who recently spoke of the couple on the latest episode of Mail+’s Palace Confidential, Kate and William’s recent appearances “may be a sign of what’s to come”.
Last Friday, December 6, the Princess of Wales wowed fans as she stepped out for her fourth annual Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey in London.
Accompanying his wife, Prince William was spotted arriving for the night of festive fun alongside their children – Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and six-year-old Prince Louis.
The event, which appeared to be another success in the royal calendar, was described as “the centre piece of the royal week” by Richard on the latest episode.
Then, speaking of William, Richard added: “And then we have had Prince William meeting the next president and carrying out those engagements overseas.”
The day after the Christmas carol service, December 7, 42-year-old William met US President-elect Donald Trump in Paris at the re-opening of the Notre-Dame. Although thought to be an event that would typically be attended by the King, fans appeared delighted by William’s appearance.
The father of three’s landmark meeting with the US president was expected to include discussions of the relationship between the US and the UK.
Speaking of the most recent appearances by Kate and William, Richard described them as “very encouraging.
Sitting alongside the Mail on Sunday’s Charlotte Griffiths and Natasha Livingstone, Richard added: “It has felt like they have taken the lead, and lets say they’ve done it extremely well, so it’s a relief and it shows how strong the Royal Family is for the next generation, and that’s very encouraging.”
With Kate slowly easing herself back into royal duties following her cancer diagnosis earlier this year, she also made an appearance at the Festival of Remembrance event at the Royal Albert Hall.
As well as the event at the Royal Albert Hall, she also attended the Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph on Whitehall in London and was present at the official state visit of the Emir of Qatar and his wife.
