Queen Camilla unintentionally exposed her hidden pain as she confided in a guest during her annual Christmas lunch at Clarence House.
At the event, Camilla welcomed families of seriously ill children with complex medical needs amid her own battle with a chest infection.
During the ceremony, the Queen Consort revealed her eagerness to reaching the end of the year amid King Charles cancer treatment and her Pneumonia diagnosis.
Camilla made the emotional admission to one of the kid’s mother, Marie Verney, saying she would “be glad to get to the end of the year,” as per GB News.
The 2024 was challenging for the entire Royal family, who were struck by back-to-back tragedies, including Charles and Kate Middleton’s respective cancer diagnosis.
As they bid farewell to this year, it was revealed that the Queen Consort had also fallen ill with a chest infection, forcing her to pull out of some royal engagements.
Following the interaction with Camilla at the annual Christmas lunch, Verney revealed sweet anecdotes about meeting the Royal.
“She’s a fun grandma,” Verney revealed. “She talked about her granddaughters herself because they are 17, like Katie. She’s a really down-to-earth lady and put us at ease.”
Camilla also treated Katie, Verney’s daughter, to a glass of champagne after jokingly recommending it over elderflower.
“When you have a child with profound additional needs, life is quite insular, and the fact that you’re welcomed in to do something magical is quite amazing,” Verney said.
