Queen Camilla’s very candid 10-word comment lays Royal Family drama bare

From supporting her husband King Charles and the Princess of Wales amid their cancer diagnoses, as well as fulfilling a packed schedule of engagements, the first half of 2024 was extremely busy for Queen Camilla.

The 77-year-old managed to take time out to relax and unwind during a trip to Wimbledon 2024 to watch the quarter-final action on Centre Court for the 10th day of the championships.

During which Queen Camilla confessed the stresses in a 10-word statement to former British tennis player, Laura Robson. Camilla admitted to her that it was “so nice to be able to escape for a day”.

The Royal Family has faced a series of events this year that tested their resilience and strength. King Charles was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, commencing a schedule of regular treatments, and initially cancelling face-to-face duties.

Princess Kate, also delivered a bombshell video message to the nation in March revealing she was undergoing chemotherapy after post-operative tests showed she also had cancer. Having now finished her treatment, Kate is slowly returning to public duties.

During Wimbledon, Camilla also took the time to praise head gardener Martyn Falconer, who has worked at Wimbledon for 25 years and cares for all the plants around the grounds. She said: “It all looks fantastic. It always looks absolutely perfect.”

Taking time to unwind, and be in the moment, Queen had a fun day out as she also met another Camila – the daughter of Mexican doubles player Santiago Gonzalez. The Queen sweetly said “fancy having two Camillas here” and asked if she would like a picture together.

Camilla was also introduced to the welcome line-up by Deborah Jevans, chairwoman of the All England Club, before heading to the royal box on Centre Court to be joined by her sister, Annabel Elliot.

She was dressed for her day out at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in a cream linen dress featuring large giraffe motifs by Anna Valentine, with a Jack Russell brooch from Van Cleef and Arpels.

Princess Kate also attended the final of the Men’s Wimbledon Championships alongside her daughter, Princess Charlotte, and sister Pippa.

The Princess of Wales who is patron of the All-England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, presented the trophy to the winner of the coveted Men’s Singles Final, Carlos Alcarazm who beat Novak Djokovic in the final.

The royal stunned in a custom purple Safiyaa Cecilia dress and wore her hair in loose curls, while pairing the elegant outfit with gold jewellery.

The Princess of Wales shared a message to mark her appearance and support on X, as the caption read: “Great to be back at @Wimbledon! There’s nothing quite like The Championships”.

Despite stepping back from the majority of public duties in 2024, towards the end of the summer in September, Kate announced she had finished her chemotherapy course in a heartfelt video, in which she spoke about her experience while footage played of the Waleses and their children enjoying time together outdoors.
