Prince Harry ‘begged’ the Royal Family to delay devastating news announcement

Royal biographer Omid Scobie reveals in his tell-all book Endgame, that Prince Harry desperately pleaded with the Royal Family to delay a major announcement. The world learned of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing at 6:30pm on September 8, 2022, moments before Prince Harry could arrive in Aberdeen for his journey to Balmoral.
According to Endgame, there were plans by Buckingham Palace to go public sooner; however, Harry “begged” for a postponement so he could join his family in time. Facing stormy weather, Harry’s plane was forced to circle overhead, as reported by the Express.
The book details: “When Harry’s plane finally touched tarmac twenty minutes later, he received a text from Meghan urging him to call ASAP followed by a breaking news alert via the BBC News app with the announcement of the Queen’s death.
Despite Harry’s pleas, the Palace decided to go ahead with informing the public. A spokesperson for King Charles insisted: “The public was only informed after every family member had been informed.”
As cited by the newspaper, a Palatial source emphasized that King Charles was determined to ensure all ‘the Firm’s members were updated about the monarch’s demise before any public proclamation, reports the Daily Record.
On September 8, Royal family members hurried to Balmoral in Aberdeenshire to be at the Queen’s side. Meanwhile, Prince Harry had to forgo a scheduled appearance at a London charity event to be with his beloved grandmother.
Just days after her passing, Prince Harry and his brother Prince William, along with their wives Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton, reunited to view the floral tributes left at Windsor Castle for the late Queen and conduct a walkabout. This marked the first public appearance of all four royals together since the Queen’s thanksgiving in June 2022 as part of her Platinum Jubilee Celebrations.
The brothers were last seen together at a memorial service for their mother’s brother-in-law Lord Robert Fellowes in August 2023. Join the Daily Record’s WhatsApp community here and get the latest news sent straight to your messages.
