So emotional: Kate Middleton makes her feelings clear over Royal return
Princess Kate joined the Royal Family at the Remembrance Sunday Service with the Princess of Wales appearing to be on more “regal” form, according to an expert.
Kate undertook one of the biggest public commitments since revealing her cancer diagnosis earlier this year. Sunday 10 November saw the Princess take her place on the balcony above the Cenotaph during her second public engagement in two days.
Body language expert Judi James said how Kate’s body language was one of the first indicators that she is on more “regal” form during the annual event remembering those who lost their lives to war.
Speaking to the MailOnline, James said: “Kate’s body language and even her styling today showed a return to what looked like full regal form.
“Her facial expression became sombre once we heard the chimes of Big Ben and there was a more contained version of her clearly emotional signalling that we saw at the concert the evening before.
Then she appeared tearful, but here her sadness registered with a fiercely regal look of stoic reflection.”
Commenting on Kate’s outfit, the expert explained how the black military style jacket with dramatic headwear also suggested the Princess of Wales had returned to “regal” mode.
“Even her fascinator and the way she wore her hair swept up looked like a re-run of one of her most iconic ‘regal’ moments when she was photographed in the car, in her Covid face mask, at Philip’s funeral, looking fiercely elegant and regal and so much like a future queen,” she adds.
During the service Kate also wore three red poppies pinned to her coat – these are rumoured to be in honour of her great-grandmother’s three brothers, who all lost their lives in the First World War.
Prince William’s wife stood alongside the Duchess of Edinburgh during the service where Queen Camilla was originally meant to be placed. However, she missed the day due to her recovery from a chest infection.
Sophie was then switched from her originally planned position with the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester on a neighbouring balcony to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Kate in support.
James continued: “She was seen chatting and smiling gently with Sophie on the balcony and, with Camilla not attending, she appeared to move into central position with Sophie standing to her side, with relaxed-looking confidence.”
Sophie was seen offering a supportive hand on Kate’s back which the body language expert labelled as a “very telling-looking gesture” to why she was chosen to be by the Princess’ side.
The expert adds: “That simple hand gesture showed Sophie’s dual role today,
“She is always the royal who brings a sense of calm and support to some of the most emotionally-charged royal occasions.
