New Andrew and Fergie bombshell as author claims they were ‘watched by MI6’

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s biographer believes MI6 put the disgraced former Duke of York and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, “under surveillance because of [the] shady people they were associating with”. Historian Andrew Lownie, author of Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, claims a source within the UK’s foreign intelligence service revealed this to him. Royal Family members cannot be the subject of MI6 files, but their close associates can.

“Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson were monitored because of their associates. MI6 stumbled across them watching others,” Lownie said. The timeline of when they were allegedly under surveillance is not known. Lownie made his claim as he urged the Royal Family to speak publicly about links to paedophile Jeffrey Epstein involving the late Queen’s middle son. It comes as Surrey Police urged people with information to come forward about claims of historic human trafficking
and sexual assault which appeared in the Epstein files.

The force said the incidents, taken from a redacted report released by the US Department of Justice in December, allegedly took place in Virginia Water, Surrey, between 1994 and 1996.

Made as part of an anonymous tip, the claims allege a woman was restrained on a table and “tortured with electrical shocks” by Ghislaine Maxwell, while the former prince and other men watched on. The force said it had found no evidence that the allegations had been reported to them after reviewing its systems.

The National Crime Agency, often referred to as Britain’s FBI, has also said it will assist the police in seeking documents from overseas enforcement agencies. Earlier this week, Essex Police became the seventh force to investigate allegations in relation to the latest tranche of Epstein files.

Detectives are “assessing information” that the deceased sex offender trafficked sex victims in and out of Stansted Airport up to 90 times between the 1990s and 2018. Former prime minister Gordon Brown claimed the files showed in “graphic detail” how Epstein used the Essex-based airport to “fly in girls from Latvia, Lithuania and Russia”

Lownie said: “[The Royal Family] need to come clean about what they knew, when they knew it, what they did about it and what they’re going to do now. The public is not going to be satisfied with bland statements about victims when we all feel that [Andrew] has been enabled and protected for the last 15 years.”

Earlier this month, Thames Valley Police chiefs said they were assessing claims that Andrew shared confidential documents with Epstein while he was the UK’s trade envoy. While the King and Queen, the Prince and Princess of Wales and the Duke of Edinburgh have issued firm statements in recent weeks to draw the focus back to Epstein’s victims, Lownie believes it’s not enough following recent developments concerning Andrew, who turns 66 today, and the former Duchess of York.

He continued: “This is why it’s all smoke and mirrors. What happens in private and what’s presented to the public are two very different things, and that’s what needs to change.

Lownie’s new claims will undoubtedly prove embarrassing for the Firm as calls grow for the former prince to face a formal criminal investigation – something the royal biographer supports.

“People need to face justice, and Andrew needs to be investigated by the Metropolitan Police on what he knew about sex trafficking and by the National Crime Agency for misconduct in public office,” said the bestselling historian and biographer. “Sarah also needs to be investigated. She’s a material witness to what was happening at Epstein’s home, and she should certainly be called to testify before the US Senate.”

Six companies linked to the former Duchess of York are being wound down in light of new revelations about her friendship with Epstein, following the US Department of Justice’s most recent tranche of emails released earlier this month. Andrew has previously denied any wrongdoing over his links to Epstein, although he has not yet responded to the latest investigations by the Essex and Thames Valley forces.

As the scandal rumbles on, two people who the public are yet to hear from are Princesses Beatrice, 37, and Eugenie, 35. The two sisters were repeatedly mentioned in the latest dump of Epstein emails – although there is no suggestion of wrongdoing on their part.

They
have kept a low profile in recent weeks, although Eugenie was pictured at the Art Basel 2026 in Doha, Qatar, in her
capacity as director of the Savile Row art gallery Hauser and Wirth. Lownie said that both women should renounce their royal titles. “That’s the first thing they should do because that’s why there is interest,” he added.

“Princess Beatrice is always Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice when she’s promoting businesses in the Middle East, which is her utilising her royal position. She’s really Mrs Mapelli Mozzi now, but if she were billed as that, no one would give their time. They need to stop using their royal status in order to make money for themselves, which is exactly what their parents did.”

As male-line grandchildren of a sovereign, the two Princesses have retained their royal status and their Princess titles as is dictated in the 1917 Letters Patent by King George V. He decreed at the time that the monarch’s children, male-line grandchildren and the eldest son of the Prince of Wales could hold a princely title.

They would need to be formally stripped of their titles or renounce them themselves for any major change to happen. As for Andrew, Lownie believes that should charges be brought against him, he “will disappear to the Middle East to avoid a trial.

The King has already banished his brother from his long-term home, Royal Lodge, in Windsor. Andrew is moving to Marsh Farm, a five-bedroom farmhouse on the Sandringham Estate. It has undergone significant renovations in recent weeks, with pest-control contractors recently spotted visiting the property.

Andrew is currently staying at Wood Farm, also on the Sandringham Estate, famous for being the late Prince Philip’s base after his retirement from public life in 2017.

Since his car crash BBC interview in November 2019, he has steadfastly refused to show remorse or sorrow about his links to Epstein. “It’s a case study in reputation management and how not to do it,” Lownie continued. “He abused the trust of the British people who gave him the job to promote British trade, and he used it to line his pockets.

Despite the endless claims against him, Andrew is reported to be “raging” – angry that his treatment by King Charles and the Royal Family has been “too harsh.

Lownie claimed: “He’s entitled, he’s narcissistic, stupid, lacks self-awareness and is surrounded by sycophants. So I’m not surprised [he thinks that].”
