Breaking News: Princess Catherine in Panic as she ‘urged Royal Family to sort Andrew problem – feared for William’

Princess Catherine was “very firm” about the Royal Family’s need to distance themselves from the “problematic optics” of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s links to Jeffrey Epstein. The Prince and Princess of Wales sought to make their position clear on the scandal on Monday, issuing their first public statement.

A Kensington Palace spokesperson said they were “deeply concerned by the continued revelations” and “their thoughts remain focused on the victims”. The statement from the future King and Queen came just hours before the King made clear his “profound concern” at allegations about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s conduct, with Buckingham Palace saying it will “stand ready to support” the police if approached over the claims.

Thames Valley Police has confirmed it is assessing suggestions that the King’s brother shared confidential reports from his role as the UK’s trade envoy with sex offender Epstein. The reignited crisis, which has engulfed both the monarchy and Westminster, has shown little sign of abating since the US authorities’ recent dump of millions of documents associated with the paedophile financier Epstein. Andrew has always denied any wrongdoing in relation to his connection to Epstein.

According to The i Newspaper, a royal insider said the Princess of Wales was keen to urge the family to distance themselves from former Prince Andrew.

The i Paper’s Kate Nicholl reports a royal insider said: “Catherine has been very firm, making it clear that they need to distance themselves publicly from Andrew.

“She pushed hard for him to be moved out of Windsor because she could see the problematic optics with Andrew being so close to their new home.

While it’s true that William has been concerned for his uncle’s well-being, he is also frustrated, and I would say even angry that the family is once again under the microscope.”

She added: “Aware that the King has inherited the ‘Andrew problem’, as it is known in the family, Catherine is understandably keen that she and William do not face a similar burden when it is their time to reign.”

On Wednesday, Sir Keir Starmer and the King were seen together for the first time since the US authorities’ recent dump of millions of documents associated with the paedophile financier Epstein.

The crisis has led to two departures from Downing Street, a call from the Scottish Labour leader for Sir Keir to resign, and reignited the scandal surrounding Lord Peter Mandelson’s appointment as the UK ambassador to the US despite his relationship with Epstein.
