Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor dealt fresh blow as pest control called for grim reason
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is set to have a busy few weeks ahead as he prepares to leave his Windsor mansion for good. The former Duke of York will reportedly wave goodbye to the 30-room Royal Lodge within weeks, swapping the luxury of the home for an old farmhouse instead.
While it is not known whether Andrew will move straight to his new home Marsh Farm on the Sandringham estate, it is believed the former prince may not be too happy to find out that pest control has been needed at the property. Although unconfirmed, it is believed this is because molehills appeared all over the front lawn of the old farmhouse, resulting in Command Pest Control, which has a Royal Warrant, being called out.
It has also been reported that this is not the only pest the company has dealt with, with reports that earlier this week they had to sort out a mice issue at the farmhouse.
This comes as the property is currently undergoing renovation ahead of the King’s brother moving into the cottage, which is on the monarch’s private Sandringham estate.
It is believed work has been needed inside and outside the home to make it habitable, with security improvements also needed.
This has included installation of CCTV, security systems and a fence.
It has also been reported that the farmhouse, which is significantly smaller than Andrew’s current abode and sits in a secluded village, may not be ready in time for when Andrew leaves Royal Lodge.
If this is the case, the former prince will reportedly be housed somewhere temporarily.
This comes after reports that some of Andrew’s belongings, including his extensive teddy bear collection, have already been moved into a storage facility in London ahead of the house move.
Removal vans have been spotted coming and going from Royal Lodge, however the former prince is not yet believed to have handed over the keys to the property, which he has called home for over two decades.
His eviction from Royal Lodge was announced just months ago, and was the result of scandals surrounding Andrew’s former friendship with the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew has always denied accusations against him.
