“After Years of Struggle, Joy at Last”: Andy Murray and His Wife Celebrate as Their Hotel Enters a New Era of Profit

For years, the story of Andy Murray’s life off the court has been one of resilience—facing injury, setbacks, and uncertainty with the same grit that defined his tennis career. Now, that same perseverance is paying off in a different arena. After a prolonged period of financial difficulty, Murray and his wife, Kim Sears, are celebrating a long-awaited turnaround as their hotel business has returned to strong profitability.

Sir Andy Murray’s hotel business made a profit of almost £200,000 last year, new figures show.

The double Wimbledon champion bought the 16-room Cromlix House Hotel near his home town of Dunblane for almost £2million in 2013.

It has since become a five-star venue and has won a string of hospitality industry awards.

Cromlix was run by a management firm until December 2022 when Sir Andy and his wife Kim announced they would be taking a more hands-on approach.

Newly published accounts show it has made a healthy profit following two years of six-figure losses.

The latest accounts, which cover the period up to March 31 2025, show the firm that operates the hotel made a profit of £193,379 compared to a loss of £369,044 the previous year.

Cash reserves at the business, which employs 88 people, increased from £242,535 to £610,494 and it cut its liabilities from £1.8million to £1.6million.

Sir Andy 38, who owns the company with his wife, has committed to supporting the hotel financially to allow it to continue to operate.

The latest accounts state: ‘The LLP is dependent on the support of the members to continue as a going concern.

‘This support has been confirmed as being in place therefore the financial statements have been prepared on the ongoing concern basis.’

Cromlix has become the venue for Murray family gatherings.

The tennis star held his wedding reception at the hotel in April 2015 after getting hitched to Kim, 38, at Dunblane Cathedral and elder brother Jamie was married there.

Cromlix was named hotel of the year in the 2024 AA Hospitality Awards and just weeks later the hotel’s Glasshouse restaurant was awarded a prestigious Michelin Key.

Sir Andy and his wife have invested heavily in the hotel since taking over the running of it and it is currently closed until May for a major revamp.

The hotel is adding two new restaurants, a wellness facility and three new suites, including a ground floor accessible suite.

It closed its doors on Sunday and a statement on its Instagram page read: ‘Today marks the start of an exciting few months as we close for the next stage of our transformation.

‘Our team is all set to pack away the house, but we’re already counting down to 15th May when we’ll welcome you back.

‘While our doors are closed, our team is still here and ready to take your bookings for spring and beyond.

‘Thank you for being part of our story. We can’t wait to share what’s next!’
