Breaking News: King Charles fulfils David Beckham big wish in William’s absence – Delay but not Denied
David Beckham is set to be welcomed at a royal house today to receive his much-anticipated knighthood after years of waiting.
As per The Sun, the former British captain will be knighted at Windsor Castle after his name was included in the King’s Birthday Honours list.
David has been recognised due to his incredible work in the field of sport. His charitable services have also been appreciated.
It is important to note that in June, Victoria Beckham’s husband released an emotional statement after he was selected for the knighthood.
He said, “Growing up in East London with parents and grandparents who were so patriotic and proud to be British, I never could have imagined I would receive such a truly humbling honour.”
David said that it has always been a “greatest privilege” of his life to represent his country across the world, on and off the pitch.
“I’m so lucky to be able to do the work that I do, and I’m grateful to be recognised for work that gives me so much fulfilment. It will take a little while for the news to sink in, but I’m immensely proud, and it’s such an emotional moment for me to share with my family,” the 50-year-old stated.
Notably, David is fond of King Charles and Prince William, which was visible in his interactions with the key royals.
However, he will be receiving the award in the Prince of Wales’ absence, who is currently in Brazil for the annual Earthshot Prize Awards.
