Sir Andy Murray will watch the Wimbledon action unfold from home for the first time since his retirement.
Despite Murray not planning to attend in person, the two-time Wimbledon champion is expected to be deeply engrossed in the tournament. The 38-year-old recently told The Guardian that he has no plans to attend the All England Club during the tournament unless his children are interested in going.
In his absence, British player Emma Raducanu hopes to emulate her former mentor’s success and improve on her fourth-round finish from last year. Raducanu and Murray represent two distinct eras of British tennis that were set to team up before last year’s doubles drama. Record Sport examines the current state of their relationship, as well as Murray’s net worth with his wife, Kim and how it has been impacted by a major investment.
Emma Raducanu’s apology to Murray
At 22, Raducanu could never have predicted the profound effect she would have on Murray’s final year in tennis. However, this became one of the main stories at Wimbledon in 2024 when the pair were slated to compete in the mixed doubles event.
That was until Raducanu, who was performing well in the women’s singles, withdrew from the competition due to stiffness. In doing so, she inadvertently ended Murray’s Wimbledon career in a rather anticlimactic manner.
Andy’s mother and former coach, Judy Murray, labelled the situation “astonishing” on social media before clarifying that her comment was a joke. While Murray has largely kept silent about the incident, Raducanu has repeatedly expressed her regret and confirmed that she has apologised to him.
“I hope he’s forgiven me for last year, I still feel bad about it,” she confessed at this year’s French Open. “I’m looking forward to seeing him around and having a conversation.
“I think he would give great advice, he’s been in a similar situation and would probably understand a lot of things that I’m also going through. But as to anything more, I don’t know, that’s very far out of thought.”
Speaking at the Australian Open in January, Raducanu reiterated her admiration for Murray as someone she’s “grown up looking up to.”
Raducanu, who also dismissed coach Nigel Sears, Murray’s father-in-law, in the summer of 2021, recently expressed hope that there was “no bad blood” between them after the Wimbledon controversy.
Andy Murray’s net worth with wife Kim
In addition to his £47million earnings from the ATP Tour, Murray has boosted his income with various sponsorships and endorsements. While many might assume that the Scot’s earnings would dwindle upon retirement, Murray’s net worth has surged.
He retained his position on this year’s Sunday Times Rich List, ranking as the 35th wealthiest sportsperson in Britain in May, with an impressive valuation of £110m.
This figure represents a £10m increase from the previous year, suggesting he’s far from struggling since stepping back from the sport. In May 2025, it was announced that Murray had made a formal foray into business by becoming an associate partner at Redrice Ventures.
He has also invested in ventures such as Game4Padel, a padel court operator, and crowdfunding business Seedrs. This is in addition to his stake in sportswear giant Castore and sports tech company TMRW Sports, among others.
However, the Murray empire extends beyond Andy himself. His wife, Kim, also plays a significant role in their dealings, particularly after the couple purchased the Cromlix Hotel in December 2022.
Hotel shortfall
It’s been ten years since Andy and Kim Murray celebrated their wedding reception at the luxurious Cromlix Hotel in Dunblane. It clearly left a lasting impression, as they later decided to buy the hotel outright.
The couple forked out a cool £1.8m for the 10-bedroom, 34-acre estate nearly three years ago. Cromlix boasts five suites, a one-bedroom lodge, its own chapel, tennis and pickleball courts, as well as an award-winning eatery.
Despite charging between £350 and £950 per night and winning the AA Hotel of the Year award for Scotland, Cromlix reported a loss of £369,045 for the year ending March 2024. This was revealed by CityAM, which also noted that these figures marked an improvement on the previous financial year’s losses.
Kim has been hailed as the “creative force” behind the hotel’s renovation project, which could prove to be a lucrative venture for the pair. She is reportedly adept at promoting their Dunblane business and discussed the couple’s reasoning behind investing in the hotel.
“We’d finished having children and we’d finished building our house, so it seemed the perfect time,” Kim told Country Living magazine, “Having little kids has been all-consuming.
Renovating the hotel has enabled me to come out of motherhood and create something different. I think of it as a family project. Maybe in 15 years, the kids will be interested in it. I want to see where it takes us.”
