Just In: Royal biographer reveals Palace concerns about Meghan Markle’s behaviour
A royal biographer has come forward with explosive claims about Queen Elizabeth II’s private concerns regarding Meghan Markle, suggesting the Duchess of Sussex saw Prince Harry as a “stepping stone” to fame and fortune.
According to Sally Bedell Smith, a well-respected royal biographer, Queen Elizabeth II had serious doubts about Meghan Markle’s intentions and behaviour. Smith claims the Queen feared Harry was “weak” and being manipulated by Meghan.
She remarked that Harry was perhaps a little bit too much in love, was possibly besotted and a bit weak and being manipulated by Meghan,” Smith revealed.
Phil Dampier, another esteemed royal biographer, shared his thoughts on the matter, stating, “I think, unfortunately, that confirms what I’ve been saying or thought for the last few years that, sadly, Meghan never really had any intention of staying in the royal family.
She saw it as a stepping stone getting married to Harry to new fame and fortune.” Dampier believes this confirms what many have suspected about Meghan’s motivations.
Fellow expert Esther Okraku echoed these sentiments, adding that there was a “thread of commonality” regarding allegations against Meghan. Okraku suggested that Meghan’s expectations of marrying into the royal family may have been misaligned with reality.
“I think she was welcomed, like much of the country, with open arms,” Okraku said. “I think where things went wrong was clearly the cultural clash. And I think in some ways Meghan thought she was marrying a billionaire, but was marrying a millionaire, with like sort of a reduced status.”
Lady Elizabeth Anson, a close confidante and cousin of the Queen, reportedly shared her concerns about Meghan’s behavior and intentions just days before the wedding.
“We hope but don’t quite think [Meghan] is in love. We think she engineered it all,” Lady Elizabeth said. She also expressed concerns about Harry’s character, stating, “The problem, bless his heart, is that Harry is neither bright nor strong, and she is both.”
The Palace reportedly had concerns about Meghan’s behaviour leading up to the wedding, with allegations of “diva-like” behavior and extensive demands. Lady Elizabeth recalled a specific incident where Meghan was “trying to find out about the wedding dress, and Meghan wouldn’t tell her.”
This incident sparked concerns that Meghan could “turn into nothing but trouble.”
