Breaking News: Tennis World in joyous mood as Andy Murray Announce Big News alongside Newest family member
Andy Murray has landed a new role alongside one of his valued family members and several other tennis stars. The two-time Wimbledon champion has stepped away from the sport following his retirement at the Olympics last year. He coached Novak Djokovic for a brief period of time but is now more interested in reducing his golf handicap.
Murray is also passionate about his family and welcomed a new member at the start of the summer. He is now the proud owner of Bonnie, a flat-coated retriever who is just eight months old. The duo have teamed up with pet food giant Purina for a new campaign which hopes to inspire owners to care for their animals ‘like a PRO.
Several other tennis players have also signed up to the Purina PRO PLAN campaign, including Jasmine Paolini and her dog Cesare, Cagla Buyukakcay and her cat Izo along with powerhouse couple Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina and their pet dog Wizz.
In a statement, Purina said they were committed to providing high-quality pet food to ensure that dogs and cats live active and healthy lives. The campaign is inspired by the way tennis players work closely with nutrition experts to fine-tune their diets.
Murray has posted about the campaign on social media, even transforming his LinkedIn profile into a joint account with Bonnie to highlight her important role in their collaboration.
Bonnie only joined us this spring and she’s such a big part of our family already, so for me it’s important that we prioritise her health and nutrition,” said Murray.
“Throughout my career, nutrition has been key to my performance, and so it makes sense that we do this for Bonnie too because she’s going to be busy as she keeps up with life in the Murray house.
“I’ve learnt so much about pet nutrition and how important it is since I started working with Purina PRO PLAN and I hope Bonnie and I can inspire PRO level care among other pet owners.
Murray welcomed Bonnie into his family eight months after his beloved border terrier, Rusty, passed away. He previously had another dog, Maggie May, who died in 2022.
After losing Rusty, he posted a heartfelt tribute on social media which read: “You were the most loyal and protective companion our family could have wished for.
“You were so patient and gentle with the kids and we all learned so much from you. The house feels empty without you in it… Love you ruzz rest easy poppet.”
