Absolute silence at Kensington Palace: they leak this about Kate Middleton and her husband
Prince William and Kate Middleton have made an important decision regarding their personal and family life. As many know, they have left their official residence in London to move to Forest Lodge, an exclusive property located in the surroundings of Windsor.
This decision reflects the princes’ desire to live in a more private and peaceful environment. In addition, Kate and William are looking for a space that better suits their family lifestyle and the needs of their three children, far from the constant media spotlight.
How much will Kate Middleton and Prince William pay in rent?
The princes are seeking a life further away from the center of public activity and the excess of formalities imposed by life in royal palaces. In this sense, Forest Lodge represents an ideal combination of comfort, privacy, and space.
The property is valued at about $12 million. However, this tranquility comes at a high price. According to real estate expert Russel Quirk, the current monthly rent for Forest Lodge reaches £30,000.
The property belongs to Crown Estate, so the princes must pay this amount directly to this entity. Quirk explained that years ago the rent was lower, around £15,000 per month, but it has increased considerably over time.
“In the last 20 years or so, these things vary from one region to another, from one city to another. However, suffice it to say that places like Windsor have become increasingly popular, particularly among foreign tenants,” the specialist stated.
The increase in price is related to tax changes that have affected the real estate market in England. “What has happened in recent years in the previous government and this one is that the stamp duty regime on purchases has become increasingly punitive.”
“The consequence is that now many people rent instead of buy because they don’t want to pay for a property like that, let’s say one million pounds in stamp duty,” Quirk explained.
Prince William doesn’t want to live in Buckingham Palace
Sources close to the royal family assure that Prince William plans to make Forest Lodge his permanent home. “William doesn’t want to live in a huge palace. He has always made it very clear that he doesn’t want to live like that,” they point out.
This move marks a new chapter for the Princes of Wales, who are opting for a more discreet and family-oriented life. Despite the high cost of Forest Lodge, William and Kate seem to be clear that the privacy and well-being of their children are above protocol.
