Princess Kate and Prince William’s perfect new home may not be so perfect after all.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, along with their three children — George, Charlotte, and Lois — are set to leave Windsor’s Adelaide Cottage and settle into the nearby Forest Lodge later this year, as confirmed by Kensington Palace.
The 300-year-old property is being touted as their “forever home,” but not everyone thinks the relocation is a perfect fit. While many locals are thrilled at the idea of living near the future king and queen, one neighbour worries the move could actually strip the couple and their children of privacy, per the Daily Mail.
“I welcome them. But I hope the public allows them to live there quietly as a family,” said 87-year-old Jean Reeve. “It’s a less private spot than their previous home, from what I know about the location. I’d hate for people to always be going past and saying: ‘Oh, that’s where they live.’ They have young children after all. They deserve privacy.
Others, however, are embracing the royal arrival with open arms.
Nicola Berry, 50, admitted she was surprised by just how close Forest Lodge was to her own community. “I heard they were moving but I didn’t realise they’d be so close. Welcome, I suppose!” she laughed, adding that her usual recommendation of walks in Windsor Great Park is now simply “their back garden.”
Extensive renovations are already underway at the manor, which boasts a ballroom, tennis court, and sprawling grounds.
