The last chapter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson with the royal family seemingly comes to an end after King Charles’ stern decision for the Yorks.
The controversies and scandals involving the Duke and Duchess of York are not hidden from the public. Notably, the recent email leak revived the anger of the public towards the former couple.
For the unversed, Fergie’s personal message to the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein left people furious, in which she addressed him as her “supreme friend” after publicly announcing that she cut ties with the paedophile.
The mother of Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice’s spokesperson shared that she deeply regrets contacting Epstein, which was done under pressure and threats.
But, clearly, it’s too late to give such statements as several charities parted ways with Sarah Ferguson.
On the other hand, Prince Andrew’s long-standing connections with Epstein and also last year’s Chinese spy scandal put him in the bad books of Britons and the royal family.
Amid the chaos, there are reports that King Charles asked Andrew and Sarah to stop joining the royals at public-facing events, especially their annual Christmas celebrations at Sandringham.
In conversation with the Mirror, royal commentator Jennie Bond said, “I think it’s inconceivable that Andrew and Sarah could appear in public at Sandringham. And if they joined the family party but kept away from the public and the cameras, it could open up the King to charges of hypocrisy.”
She called Charles a “family man” who wants to keep his relationships close, but the latest revelations about Sarah’s contact with Epstein make it impossible for her to be part of the inner family circle again.
Jennie quoted the example of last year, in which Sarah and Andrew celebrated the holidays away from the royal family when the alleged Chinese spy controversy was made public.
She also claimed that it appears that the royal family’s ‘permanent end’ ties with the Duke and Duchess of York, especially at royal gatherings.
“Now is perhaps the time for a permanent end to their Christmas celebrations with the Royal family at Sandringham,” she shared.
