SAD NEWS: Carole Middleton burst in Tears as Princess Kate’s health journey faces choppy waters

Princess Kate’s journey back to royal duties hasn’t been without its challenges, according to a palace source, who revealed her recovery has “not been plain sailing.”

After months out of the spotlight, the Princess of Wales is cautiously stepping back into public life following her cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

Royal aides say she’s continuing to take a measured approach, balancing her return to official engagements with ongoing health considerations.

She underwent major abdominal surgery in January 2024. Subsequent tests revealed cancer, prompting her to begin a course of preventive chemotherapy.

In a personal message released earlier this year, the royal shared that she is in remission and plans to resume her responsibilities gradually and thoughtfully.

Despite the hurdles, Kate recently made two high profile appearances at Trooping the Colour and the Order of the Garter service.

But just as royal fans hoped for a third consecutive appearance, the Princess was notably absent from Tuesday’s Royal Ascot despite originally planning to attend.

According to a royal source, the decision was a sensible one. “Catherine knows she shouldn’t overdo things. She’s incredibly grateful her recovery is going well, but it hasn’t all been plain sailing,” the insider revealed.

“She had a busy day at Trooping the Colour, and if she’s feeling slightly under the weather, it’s better she takes it easy.”

Kensington Palace had informed Ascot earlier on Wednesday that the Princess of Wales would not be attending.

However, an outdated version of the royal procession lineup was mistakenly released at midday, listing both Prince William and Princess Kate in the second carriage behind the King and Queen.

Just 22 minutes later, organisers rushed to correct the error, releasing revised guidance confirming Kate’s absence.

A source told the Mail: “Unfortunately, an inaccurate version of the carriage list was issued in error after that notification. The correct list was then circulated.”

The last minute change forced a reshuffle of the carriage lineup, with Lord Soames a close friend of King Charles.
Royal insiders say Kate was “disappointed” to miss the iconic race day but remains focused on pacing her return to public life.

“She has to find the right balance,” the source added, as the Princess continues to prioritise her health amid a cautious recovery.
