NEW TRAGEDY: Queen Camilla’s Son claims he’s dying Over Devastating Struggles with…
Tom Parker Bowles has shared a candid update about his health after expressing his concern that he is convinced he is dying due to a condition he suffers from. In a heartfelt conversation with broadcaster Gabby Logan on her Mid Point podcast, he opened up about his struggles with hypochondria, admitting that he has always been preoccupied with his health.
Reflecting on the impact of the condition, the son of Queen Camilla said: “I’m a total hypochondriac, I’m always convinced that I’m dying of something, like a headache is always going to be brain cancer, a cough is always going to be lung (cancer).
He added: “I do go to my doctor, who is a magnificent man, rather a lot, saying ‘this is it doc, this is the big one.'”.
The NHS defines hypochondria, also known as health anxiety, as a condition where an individual spends an excessive amount of time worrying about being ill or becoming ill, to the point where it consumes their life. It is closely linked to obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
Approximately 5-10% of the UK population is believed to suffer from this condition. The website outlines several behaviours that might indicate the presence of the condition, including (but not limited to); “constantly worry about your health, frequently check your body for signs of illness, such as lumps, tingling or pain, are always asking people for reassurance that you’re not ill, worry that a doctor or medical tests may have missed something and obsessively look at health information on the internet or in the media.”, reports Gloucestershire Live.
Despite concerns that common ailments like headaches and coughs could be indicative of serious health issues, Tom has openly discussed his decision to pursue a healthier lifestyle due to a particular health concern.
In a conversation with Vogue magazine last year, he expressed his determination to manage his weight before turning 50, saying: “I was like: ‘Right, I’m getting too fat.'”.
Tom’s illustrious career spans across some of the nation’s most prestigious publications, having contributed to Tatler magazine, Esquire, Conde Nast, Country Life, and Harpers Bazaar.
Moreover, Tom’s extensive experience includes television appearances, notably working with celebrated chef Gordon Ramsay on The F Word.
Additionally, viewers of BBC’s MasterChef will recognise Tom from his frequent stints on the programme, where he critiques the culinary creations of the contestants.
However, of late, he has branched out into authoring his own cookery books. His latest release, Cooking and the Crown: Royal Recipes from Queen Victoria to King Charles III, sees Tom sharing 100 recipes spanning two centuries of Royals.
