Princess Eugenie engages in ‘fierce debate’ as royal issues fresh statement

Princess Eugenie and her charity issued a statement on this weeks activities with residents and staff at Caritas Bhakita House.
The Princess of York, 35, co-founded the Anti-Slavery Collective in 2017, with the mission to eradicate modern slavery for an estimated 50 million people by bringing together changed makers and raising awareness.
The organisation and the princess posted the message on their social media alongside a photo of Eugenie with two other team members.
During one visit in the week, the charity workers engaged in a fierce debate over the rules of the popular card game, Uno
The joint social media statement read: “This week some of TASC team & our founder @princesseugenie had the privilege of spending the afternoon with the incredible residents and staff at Caritas Bhakita House!
“We sat with the residents, listened to their stories, and learned about their lives and experiences. There was also a fierce debate over the rules of Uno and (cake emoji) eating.
“We are proud to support this grassroots organisation, which has been providing a safe haven for women who have been trafficked, enslaved, or exploited since 2015.
Caritas Bhakita House offers trauma-informed support, helping women begin their journey of healing and recovery, and we are honoured to be part of their mission.
The Anti-Slavery Collective was born out of a trip to Kolkata in 2012, where Princess Eugenie and her friend, Julia de Boinville, met Aloka Mitra.
Mitra is a social activist who has worked for over 35 years supporting vulnerable women and children in India.
During this trip, Eugenie and de Boinville became aware of the prevalence of modern slavery, which they realised was a global issue.
The Princess of York has previously highlighted that the issue of modern slavery is “never really talked about.
Royal fans were quick the praise the charity’s work, following the post.
One said: “Well done Princess Eugenie! Thank you for being such a caring trailblazer for women.”
Another said: “Amazing young lady and princess.”
Eugenie, who is a non-working member of the Royal Family, is the youngest daughter of Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew.
