Breaking News: Kate and Prince William issue statement doubling down on Princess of Wales’s…

Kate and Prince William have issued a fresh statement doubling down on the Princess of Wales’s Mother’s Day stance.

On Sunday, rather than sharing a family photo alongside her children as she had done in previous years, Kate shared a video highlighting the importance of Mother Nature.

In their first post since that Mother’s Day message, the Prince and Princess of Wales have issued a new statement on the Duchy of Cornwall’s plans to double the size of Wistman’s Wood.

The couple wrote on social media: “Last week, a group of volunteers joined forces to plant 450 saplings on Dartmoor, helping to recreate a resilient temperate rainforest for future generations.

These are the first trees planted as part of the Duchy of Cornwall’s plans to double the size of Wistman’s Wood – one of Britain’s last remaining ancient temperate rainforests.”

The Princess of Wales broke with tradition this Mother’s Day by sharing a nature-themed video instead of her usual family photographs.

Kate, 43, typically marks the occasion with images featuring her three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The change came exactly one year after she faced significant scrutiny over an edited family photo posted for Mother’s Day 2024.

The video, shared on the royal couple’s official social media accounts, showcased various natural environments across the UK.

Viewers were treated to scenes of woodlands, fields, beaches and ocean vistas, with intimate details like an unfurling daisy and a ladybird on grass.

An accompanying message signed “C” read: “Over the past year, nature has been our sanctuary. This Mother’s Day, let us celebrate Mother Nature.”
The decision marked a significant shift following last year’s Mother’s Day controversy.

In 2024, Kate took the rare step of issuing a personal apology after sharing a family portrait that was later revealed to have been digitally altered.

“Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing,” she acknowledged at the time. “I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused.”

The nature-themed video appears to reflect Kate’s personal journey over the past year.
Her message highlighted how “our bond with the natural world can help not only nurture our inner selves, but remind us too of the role we play within the rich tapestry of life.
