
Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi made his feelings clear after Princess Beatrice’s announcement.
The Princess of York has been confirmed as the new patron of Borne, a charity committed to ending premature birth globally.
This announcement comes just two months after Princess Beatrice, 36, gave birth to a premature daughter named Athena Elizabeth Rose.
Borne confirmed the news on social media, and Beatrice’s husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, commented underneath with three clapping emojis.
The charity wrote: “Borne is honoured to announce Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice as our newest patron.
“This appointment, unveiled at last night’s Wonderland fundraising gala at the V&A, underscores the Princess’s personal commitment to ending premature birth globally.
The gala, hosted by acclaimed actor @petriealistair and featuring an exclusive performance by @elliegoulding, marked Princess Beatrice’s first public appearance since the early arrival of her daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, on January 22, 2025.”
Princess Beatrice released a statement earlier today about her new patronage, writing: “The work that Borne is undertaking is something that is incredibly close and personal to me following the recent birth of my daughter.
Every year in the UK, 60,000 babies are delivered too soon, with little information or research as to why this is.
“That is why I am really looking forward to supporting Borne and its programme of groundbreaking research, which I hope will help thousands of parents and children in the future.”
Professor Mark Johnson, the founder of Borne, said: “We are immensely grateful to Her Royal Highness for her dedication to our mission.
“Her support will be instrumental in raising awareness and driving the vital research needed to prevent.
Borne Chair of Trustees, Julian Mylchreest, added: “We are deeply honoured to have Princess Beatrice as our patron, and we look forward to working together.
“Her passion and commitment will be invaluable as we amplify our efforts, fund the best researchers in the field nationally and globally and work tirelessly to find out why babies are born too soon.”
Princess Beatrice’s pal Natalie Pinkham also commented underneath Borne’s post, saying: “What a powerful partnership this will be.
