Hilarious moment Kate pretended to be William’s girlfriend to save him from…
Princess Kate’s friend and former roommate at the University of St Andrews has described how Kate once saved Prince William from an awkward encounter.
Laura Warshauer, recalled to Fox News Digital: “I remember someone was chatting Will up… [It was] this girl at a birthday party. He was being very polite, but it was obvious he was trying to figure out how to get out of the situation.
Kate just walks across the room and puts her arms around him. It enabled him to turn to this girl, and he was just like, ‘Oh, I’m sorry, I have a girlfriend’.”
She then described how Prince William then turned to Kate and thanked her for helping him out of a situation.
Laura Warshauer, a singer and songwriter who attended the same university describes how at the time, the couple were not dating but had become friends.
She explains: “That was so early on in the year, I don’t even think they were dating. They had pretty much just met and formed a friendship. But I remember even thinking at that moment that was just so natural the way that she did that.”
Laura also gushed over Kate: “My initial impression was that of someone beautiful inside and out. I feel like that’s what the world has gotten to experience.
“I knew Will and Kate as extremely down-to-earth, relatable people that you could talk about anything with.”
Prior to becoming the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and later, the Prince and Princess of Wales, the pair had built a strong foundation as friends while they were students at St Andrews University in the early 2000s.
The couple were both studying Art History, before William switched to study Geography. Later speaking of their relationship in their engagement interview, William said it “blossomed” during their second year at St Andrew’s.
The couple became engaged in 2010, with royal fans overjoyed at the happy news. William got down on one knee during a romantic getaway to Kenya. The royal popped the question with his late mother, Princess Diana’s iconic engagement ring: a 12-carat oval sapphire surrounded by a white gold halo featuring 14 solitaire diamonds.
The wedding of William and Kate took place on April 29, 2011, at Westminster Abbey in central London.
