Carole Middleton tipped for major honour for two key reasons

Princess Kate’s mum is set to celebrate a huge milestone tomorrow with her nearest and dearest.

Carole Middleton will be turning 70 on January 31, and is likely to celebrate the big day at her Berkshire home with her family, including her husband Michael Middleton.

While the Princess of Wales’ mum lives a relatively private life, some royal experts believe that she could be tipped for a very important title in the future based on how much she has supported her daughter – the future Queen of the UK.

The title could also be bestowed on Carole based on the way she has helped look after her three royal grandchildren, including Prince George, 11, who is second-in-line to the throne, the experts argued.

This role has become more prominent over the last 12 months as a result of Kate’s cancer diagnosis and treatment, which likely prompted Carole to step in at Kate and Prince William’s Windsor home to help look after Prince George, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six.

Speaking on Palace Confidential, the Daily Mail Diary Editor Richard Eden said he thinks Carole is the “unsung hero” of the Royal Family, despite not being a member of the Firm.

He said: “She really has played a key role and particularly over the past year with Catherine’s health problems. She and her husband Michael have really been there supporting.”

When asked about whether Carole will ever get her own title, the publication’s Royal Editor Rebecca English said: “I don’t think people should underestimate how important she’s been, and also her husband Michael.

“She is the one who has been driving the children on the school run but with Catherine in the car. She has been there every step of the way. There is no doubt he (William) leans on her very heavily and has nothing but love and admiration for her.

While Mr Eden thinks Carole would not want a title, Ms English said she could possibly be made a member of the Royal Victorian Order (RVO) in the future as a result of how much she has helped her daughter and Prince William.

This award is usually given by the monarch to people who have helped the Royal Family, such as members of the Royal household staff or British ambassadors.

Rebecca said: “They could do that. I don’t think we would see that in the King’s lifetime, but possibly William’s.”

Carole’s birthday plans for her 70th birthday have been kept private so far, with Princess Kate, Prince William, and their children likely to see Carole this weekend to mark the milestone.
