Kate Middleton turns to mom Carole for support after going through ‘brutal’ year

Kate Middleton’s family “pulled together as a unit” as she underwent treatment for cancer, with the Princess of Wales leaning on her mom during the “brutal” year.

Kate was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year after undergoing planned abdominal surgery. She then began a course of chemotherapy treatment, which she completed in September.

Her family came together to support her during her health struggles and royal expert Jennie Bond believes Kate turned to her mom and dad for help. “I think a shout-out should also go to Carole and Michael Middleton, who have undoubtedly been a vital part of the family this year, both practically and emotionally,” she explained.

The expert continued, “I’m sure William and Catherine leant on them very hard during their darkest days.” She then referenced a Christmas card which was carried by Prince Louis during Kate’s Together at Christmas service.

As we know from Louis’ card on the tree at the carol service, Granny and Grandpa are great playmates for their grandchildren and have put in more than a shift or two playing games with them,” Bond told OK! Magazine.

She also pointed out how the Prince and Princess of Wales have taken their children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – to plenty of public events this year. Bond said it’s clear to see on these public outings just how close the Wales family is.

A year like they have just endured must, as William said, have been brutal for the entire family. But it seems clear that they have pulled together as a unit and they look very much in harmony,” she said.

It’s believed Kate has also been seeking support from King Charles after the monarch was also diagnosed with cancer. A source explained to Radar Online, “As you’d imagine, the relationship between the two of them is incredibly close. They’ve been a huge source of comfort to each other through their side-by-side battles against cancer.

The source also suggested Charles wants to give Kate “plenty of space to recover” for the time being. They suggested palace officials are prioritizing making sure Kate and William “have as smooth a transition to power as possible.”

The Princess of Wales previously spoke about her return to work when she released a video announcing the end of her cancer treatment. “Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes,” she said. Kate admitted she was “looking forward to being back at work” and undertaking some public duties when possible.
