King Charles and Kate Middleton have been turning to one another for support following their cancer diagnoses.
The monarch and the Princess of Wales were both diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. While Charles is continuing with his treatment, Kate announced back in September that she has completed her chemotherapy.
Amid the health woes, the King is believed to have held a private meeting with his daughter-in-law over plans for Prince William to ascend to the throne. Media expert Michael Levine believes this meeting shows just how close Charles and Kate have become over the past year.
Speaking exclusively to The Mirror US, he explained, “King Charles’ private meeting with Kate Middleton amid their shared health battles underscores their deep bond and highlights the human side of the monarchy. This revelation of vulnerability and mutual support reflects a powerful narrative of resilience during a pivotal moment for the royal family.”
Levine continued, “As the palace reportedly plans Prince William’s ascension, these personal challenges bring a relatable dimension to their public roles, fostering admiration and empathy worldwide. Such moments of authenticity can strengthen the monarchy’s connection with its audience, reminding them that even the most revered institutions are built on human stories.”
A source echoed the expert’s sentiments, explaining how Kate and William could become King and Queen “sooner than expected.” They told Radar Online, “As you’d imagine, the relationship between the two of them is incredibly close. They’ve been a huge source of comfort to each other through their side-by-side battles against cancer.
The source also suggested Charles wants to give Kate “plenty of space to recover” for the time being. They suggested palace officials are prioritizing making sure Kate and William “have as smooth a transition to power as possible.”
The Princess of Wales previously spoke about her return to work when she released a video announcing the end of her cancer treatment. “Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes,” she said. Kate admitted she was “looking forward to being back at work” and undertaking some public duties when possible.
