James Middleton opens up on major change as he makes his feelings clear on Kate and Pippa
James Middleton has revealed how becoming a father has transformed his approach to family holidays.
The 37-year-old author, who is the brother of the Princess of Wales, shared how parenthood has particularly changed his airport habits.
Where he once preferred to arrive at airports “as late as possible,” the arrival of his son Inigo has prompted a complete reversal in his travel routine.
He now opts to reach the airport “five hours early,” after his priorities shifted since becoming a parent.
The candid revelations come as part of his reflections on how family gatherings have evolved since he and his siblings, Pippa and the Princess of Wales, have all become parents themselves.
In his column for The Sunday Times, Middleton reminisced about cherished family holidays from his childhood years.
The Middletons would often “pack up the car and drive somewhere,” with favourite destinations including various locations in the Swiss Alps, such as Les Masses.
The family also frequented Avoriaz in France for their getaways.
The Lake District held particular significance for the Middleton family, where they stayed in cottages near Coniston Water and Windermere.
“Its a very special place for us as a family, and the adventures we’d get up to as kids – from rock climbing on the crags to exploring the caves – were like something from The Famous Five,” James wrote.
These family trips helped forge the close bonds that continue to define the Middleton siblings’ relationship today.
Now as parents themselves, James revealed that the Middleton siblings prioritise family gatherings to ensure their children spend quality time together.
The siblings “always make sure that we spend time as a wider family so that the cousins get to spend time together, especially around Christmas,” he shared.
This commitment to maintaining close family ties has been evident in recent months.
The Princess of Wales’s video announcing the end of her chemotherapy treatment featured touching scenes of her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, playing cards with their grandchildren.
The family bond was further highlighted during Kate’s recent carol service at Westminster Abbey.
Prince Louis demonstrated his affection for his maternal grandparents with a heartfelt note on the Kindness Tree, writing: “Thank you to Granny and Grandpa because they have played games with me.”
