Kate Middleton’s emotional message after her last public appearance: ‘In times of…
Kate Middleton sent an emotional message to the United Kingdom as she prepared to celebrate Christmas by reflecting on the intimacy of the occasion and subtly her own struggles through 2024 after battling cancer.
The Princess of Wales battled the disease from January through to September, before slowly beginning to reintegrate into the public eye with appearances at tennis games in summer and memorial services for fallen soldiers in November.
And now as the sun begins to set at 4pm and the cold creeps in, she turned her attention to December 25 to celebrate with her husband and their three children and to remind the nation of just how special the time of year is.
“Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year,” Middleton says in a video from Kensington Palace. “It is a time for presents, tinsel and mince pies.
“But it’s also a time to slow down and reflect on the deeper things that connect us all. It is when we stop and take ourselves away from the pressures of daily life.
“That we find a space to live our daily lives with an open heart, with love, kindness and forgiveness. So much of what the Christmas spirit is all about.”
Prince William makes Christmas blunder
Middleton was spotted at Christmas too as she attended the Royal Family’s walk to St. Mary Magdalene Church at Sandringham. The appearance was actually the first time she mingled with other members of the public.
But whilst she reflected on the joys of the festivities and what it means to her, December 25 was made unforgettable for an undesirable reason after her husband, Prince William, gave her a misjudged gift in some years gone by.
“I did get my wife a pair of binoculars once,” Prince William told BBC Radio Five Live. “She’s never let me forget that.
“That was early on in the courtship that was – I think that sealed the deal. It didn’t go well. Honestly, I have no idea why I bought her a pair of binoculars, it seemed like a good idea at the time.
