Like Harry, like Andrew: Prince Andrew ‘Set to flee UK’ and ‘will never have…

Prince Andrew could flee the UK and never appear at Sandringham “ever again”, a royal commentator has claimed.

In a recent video posted on The Sun’s YouTube channel, Matt Wilkinson, the publication’s royal editor, discussed the Duke of York’s most recent scandal with Cameron Walker, a royal correspondent for GB News, and royal biographer Andrew Lownie.

The Duke of York recently made headlines after it came to light that he was once connected to a suspected Chinese spy, the businessman Yang Tengbo, who has denied the allegations.

Express.co.uk previously reported that Tengbo had been a friend of Prince Andrew and was invited to the royal palaces, as well as the Duke’s 60th. Andrew’s office has confirmed he did not share any “sensitive” information with the suspected spy and stopped all contact when concerns were raised.

The three royal commentators discussed the recent announcement that Prince Andrew would not be joining the Firm for Christmas at Sandringham this year, with Cameron suggesting that he could possibly join them next year if the scandal “settles down.

However, Andrew weighed in: “I don’t think he’s going to go to Sandringham ever again”, to which Matt inquired whether he thought we’d ever see the Duke in attendance at public events with the family again.

Andrew continued: “Well, my own feeling is they need to distance themselves from him. I mean, clearly when Beatrice got married, it was done very quietly. There were no pictures released of him at the wedding.

“And I think that’s what they need to do. I mean there’s rumours that he may go to the Middle East, which I think actually have some validity, and divide his time between the Middle East and here. He needs to get out of view so people totally forget about him.”

Matt claimed that Prince Andrew had left the country once since the Newsnight interview, saying that he went to Bahrain as he has links to the Middle East. He followed up by asking if a move to the Middle East was the answer.

Andrew then claimed that the Duke had been “given a house” in Abu Dhabi and is “friendly” with members of the royal family there, suggesting that he could play golf. In addition, he said his daughters are spending more time in the Middle East.

It was also recently reported that the Duke would not be in attendance at the Royal Family’s pre-Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace, with Prince Andrew spending Christmas with his former wife Sarah Ferguson at Royal Lodge.

In addition, it was reported that aides to the King had been informed by MI5 about the Duke of York’s previous relations with the suspected spy.
