Kate and William’s photographer issues statement after couple’s Christmas card blunder
Prince William and Princess Kate’s Christmas card photographer Will Warr has issued a statement following the royal couple’s festive photo blunder.
The photographer took to Instagram to share his thoughts on capturing the Wales family’s Christmas portrait.
An honour to capture this year’s Christmas card for the Prince and Princess of Wales,” Warr wrote in his heartfelt message.
The comment came after the Wales family’s Christmas card underwent an unexpected change shortly after its initial release.
The photographer’s statement prompted an outpouring of support from royal fans, who flooded his post with messages of admiration for his work.
The royal couple initially shared their festive photo on social media, only to delete it minutes later.
When the image reappeared, it had been subtly altered, featuring a more zoomed-in perspective of the original photograph.
The updated version emphasised the family’s warmth and closeness, maintaining the same festive atmosphere as the original shot.
The 2024 Christmas card captured a heartwarming moment from footage shot by Warr in Norfolk, showing the Wales family enjoying their time around Anmer Hall, their country estate.
This marked a change from their previous year’s black-and-white portrait, which was taken by fashion photographer Josh Shinner.
The final version of the Christmas card featured a special animated element, with snowflakes gently falling across the image.
The festive portrait was set against a Christmas tree backdrop, creating a cosy seasonal atmosphere.
William and Kate included a simple message with their card, stating: “Wishing everyone a very happy Christmas,” alongside a Christmas tree emoji.
The animated snowflakes added a unique touch to this year’s greeting, distinguishing it from traditional static royal Christmas cards.
The digital enhancement complemented the warm family scene, which showed the Wales family enjoying their time in the Norfolk countryside.
Royal fans were quick to express their admiration for both the card and Warr’s photography.
Amazing work,” wrote one admirer on Warr’s Instagram post.
Another fan commented: “A beautiful Christmas capture,” appreciating the photographer’s skills.
The enthusiasm extended to the card itself, with one royal supporter writing: “Perfect Christmas card for everyone who watched the video, have a blessed and healthy celebration.”
Another well-wisher added: “Happy Christmas, Your Royal Highnesses! I hope the joy of Princess Catherine’s recovery makes this the most special one yet.
