David Beckham gave fans a glimpse into his home office this week, with royal fans quick to notice one key detail.
While the former footballer and England captain is well-known for his admiration of the monarchy, some fans were still surprised to see that the dad-of-four had a picture of one very famous monarch on his office wall.
In a selfie video uploaded to Instagram, David moved his front-facing camera to show his usually “tidy” office, which had been covered in small elves and Christmas decorations overnight.
Before moving the camera to show these elves, a photograph of the late Queen Elizabeth II could be seen framed on the wall behind him. The photograph appears to a portrait of Her Majesty taken at some point during her reign.
While David did not comment on the photograph, which was accompanied by other pieces of artwork on the wall, some were quick to point out the frame.
One person commented: “The Queen on the wall. I’m in my 80s and still to this day, I have a photo of the Queen hanging up.”
Another said: “Let’s hope you get the Sir you greatly deserve this next year.”
The accidental revelation comes less than two weeks after David and his wife Victoria were invited to their first state banquet by King Charles and Queen Camilla in aid of the Amir of Qatar’s visit to the UK.
The pair attended the dinner together, with David reportedly having been invited as a result of his Qatari connections, with the former England football captain having been an ambassador for the Qatar World Cup in 2022.
The appearance at the state visit, which came just two months after the footballer attended an engagement with Prince William, left royal fans debating whether or not Beckham will soon get a knighthood.
After the banquet, one royal fan wrote on X: “Would love to see David & Victoria Beckham receive a Knighthood for the work they do, not just promoting the UK, but for their charity work also.
Another said: “David Beckham dining with the Royals – only a matter of time for the Knighthood. Will be well deserved.”
As well as sharing good relations with some of the royals, including King Charles, Beckham has also shown plenty of admiration to the monarchy in the past and queued alongside members of the public for over 12 hours to see the late Queen lying-in-state.
At the time of her death in September 2022, David wrote on Instagram: “I’m truly saddened by the death of Her Majesty, The Queen. What an outpouring of love and respect we saw for the Platinum Jubilee for her life of service. How devastated we all feel today shows what she has meant to people in this country and around the world. How much she inspired us with her leadership. How she comforted us when times were tough. Until her last days she served her country with dignity and grace.
