Harry ‘erases Royal Family’ from new business venture as royal expert left baffled
Prince Harry’s new Netflix documentary series about polo has “erased the Royal Family,” royal reporter Sarah Louise Robertson has claimed.
In an interview with GB News, the royal expert explained that the new documentary excluded any mention of the Royal Family’s deep-rooted connection to the sport, despite their decades-long involvement.
The five-part series, which launched on Netflix today, focuses primarily on elite players competing in the US Open Polo Championship in Florida.
Speaking on GB News, host Andrew Pierce explained: “There’s a big gap in this because of course, polo is the favourite sport of Prince William and he isn’t appearing in the documentary because he’s not speaking to his brother.
I mean, you can’t do a polo documentary, frankly about Prince Harry if you don’t include the British Royal Family in it because they’ve been playing polo for decades.”
Sarah agreed: “There is no mention of them whatsoever. It’s almost like Harry’s just erased how he got into the game in this.
“That’s very interesting, he’s focusing solely on playing polo where he is now in the United States, and also when he plays for the charity over in Africa. It’s like he’s just eliminated that history.”
She added that Harry was also noticeably absent from a lot of the show: “If Harry fans are expecting to see another Heart of the Invictus or their first Netflix documentary where he’s taking a starring role, they will sadly be disappointed.”
Harry appears for just five seconds in the opening credits of the first episode, asking Adolfo Cambiaso about playing against his son.
This conversation is later revisited in more detail during the fifth and final episode of the series.
The documentary marks the Sussexes’ fourth Netflix project, following their previous releases of Heart Of Invictus, Live To Lead, and their controversial Harry & Meghan series.
In the final episode, Harry and Meghan make a notable appearance at the Royal Salute Polo Challenge in Florida, filmed in April.
The couple share a kiss on the podium during the trophy presentation, with Meghan wearing sunglasses, round gold earrings, a cream halterneck dress and what appears to be Diana, Princess of Wales’ Cartier watch.
Harry demonstrates his competitive spirit during the match, with professional player Louis Devaleix noting: “Prince Harry was not relaxing and he wanted to win at all costs.
light-hearted moment occurs when Harry introduces Meghan to teammate Alfonso Cambiaso, proudly announcing that she speaks Spanish.
Meghan converses in Spanish about her time living in Argentina, saying: “I lived there about 20 years ago. In Palermo Viejo.”
When asked if he speaks Spanish too, Harry laughs, responding: “He knows I don’t.”
Harry explained the documentary’s vision in a statement, saying: “This series offers audiences an unprecedented, behind-the-scenes look into the passion and determination driving some of the world’s elite polo players.”
“We’re proud to showcase the true depth and spirit of the sport — and the intensity of its high-stakes moments,” he added.
