Kate Middleton shared the personal weight of her past year during a Christmas carol service at London’s Westminster Abbey.
The Sun newspaper reports that Kate was speaking to singer Paloma Faith, who expressed her sympathy for the princess with her health struggles, which involved having surgery and undergoing chemotherapy.
Kate was reported to have answered: “I didn’t know this time last year it was going to be the year I’ve had.”
She attended the service with her husband Prince William and three children, and said at the same event that the church – where she married Prince William in 2011, and where the funeral took place of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022 – held many memories for her.
Kate had abdominal surgery in January 2024, and later announced that she would be having chemotherapy treatment.
She has been to just a few public events since then, including the Wimbledon Men’s Final in July and Remembrance Sunday service in November.
