Prince William and Princess Kate issue new statement and reveal new Christmas addition
The Prince and Princess of Wales released a new statement just hours after their appearance at the Amir of Qatar’s state visit to the UK, while they also revealed their newest festive addition to their London home.
Prince William and Princess Kate had a busy day on Tuesday as they stepped out in London to welcome the Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and his wife Sheikha Jawaher.
The couple first greeted the Qatari royals at Kensington Palace, their London residence, before they travelled with them to Horse Guards Parade for the ceremonial welcome and then Buckingham Palace for a private lunch with King Charles and Queen Camilla.
Later in the evening the Amir visited Kensington Palace again to have a chat with the heir to the throne.
While the Waleses may live at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, Apartment 1A in Kensington Palace, which used to be their former home, still remains their official residence when they are in London.
Hours after their outings, William and Kate released a statement on their social media, saying: “Great to welcome the Amir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh @TamimBinHamad Al Thani and Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani to the UK today.”
At the same time, Kensington Palace released pictures of both their meetings at the royal residence and in some of them, William and Kate’s Christmas tree was in full display.
The glistening tree featured various red and white baubles, snowflake ornaments and red ribbons.
On a side table nearby, a leafy garland could be seen decorating the room.
It comes as the Waleses brace for a busy festive period ahead. On Friday, the Princess of Wales will host her annual Together at Christmas Carol Service at Westminster Abbey.
Meanwhile, the family is expected to head to Sandringham later in the month for the Royal Family’s traditional Christmas gathering.
