Prince Andrew has a “toxic but close knit brand”, a royal commentator has claimed, as the duke’s daughters “pose a problem” for the King.

Speaking to GB News, Richard Fitzwilliams addressed the ongoing speculation about the Duke of York’s residence at Royal Lodge during what has been a challenging period for the monarchy.

He highlighted that it’s been “a traumatic year” for the royals, with numerous health issues affecting them.

In an interview with Nana Akua on GBN America, he explained: “It’s been a traumatic year for the Royal Family, with both King Charles and the Princess of Wales battling cancer.

On top of that though, this hopefully will soon be resolved, Queen Camilla has been suffering from a form of pneumonia.

“So it really is not in the interests of the King to have further problem with Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.
“Problems would obviously arise if this were to be pushed and there was to be some form of eviction. You can’t see it because I can’t see it because of the lease.

“But the other problem is of course, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie and their families. I mean, they are tremendously supportive.
“The York’s may be a toxic brand, but they are a very close knit one.”

Prince Andrew’s residence at Royal Lodge, a £30million mansion in Windsor Great Park, has been at the centre of a dispute with his brother, King Charles.

The Duke of York, who shares the property with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, has faced challenges meeting the substantial £400,000 yearly maintenance costs.

Reports emerged that Andrew had secured funding from a mysterious benefactor to maintain his tenancy at the property.

The Sun’s royal editor Matt Wilkinson revealed that Andrew had assured the Keeper of the Privy Purse that the funding source was “legitimate.

His Majesty had reportedly wanted the Yorks to relocate to Frogmore Cottage, the former residence of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The monarch had allegedly taken significant steps to reduce Andrew’s financial support in the house and ceased funding Andrew’s £3m-a-year security costs.

Fitzwilliams emphasised that reports of Andrew’s potential eviction may be “smoke and mirrors.
