GB News presenters Isabel Webster and Ben Leo were joined by royal correspondent Richard Palmer to discuss Princess Kate’s return to royal duties.
The diplomatic red carpet will be rolled out for the Emir of Qatar’s state visit, and the King, Prince and Princess of Wales will deliver a royal welcome on Tuesday morning.
It comes as Queen Camilla will miss the start of the state visit due to the aftermath of a chest infection.
Isabel questioned if Kate “was out of the woods,” as she expressed concern about the Princess of Wales’s return to public life after undergoing cancer treatment.
She asked, “The Princess of Wales is not fully involved in the whole day. From the details, I see she won’t be attending the state banquet this evening, even though, as you say, the Queen will be there.
How concerned should we be about the Princess of Wales’s return? It has been very gentle, very slow, at her own pace.
“We know she’s got her Christmas Carol service coming up. Do we think she’s out of the woods?”
Richard explained it was unclear if the royal was still undergoing any further treatment but Kate’s involvement in the upcoming Christmas Carol service is a good sign she’s “doing well”.
He said: “It’s encouraging. This will probably be her busiest week of the year for official engagements. And, of course, her carol concert, although she has got an army of people helping her, it takes a lot of planning.
Richard explained Kate would be taking part in the full service after he asked if anything would be cut in order to take account of her recovery.
“I think those are really encouraging signs,” he commented. “Nobody’s saying it’s all over yet. We know that she’s not having chemotherapy now, but we don’t know if she’s finished all treatment, necessarily.”
The Princess of Wales will be taking part in her first state visit since her cancer diagnosis.
She will be part of the horse-drawn procession, taking part in a state visit for the first time since ending the chemotherapy treatment that followed her cancer diagnosis.
Kate will join a private lunch at the Palace, along with the King and other senior royals.
The Qatari visitors will be brought to Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament, where the Emir will speak to representatives of the House of Commons and House of Lords.
The Princess of Wales won’t be at the banquet but it will be the first time Sir Keir Starmer will have been at this diplomatic showcase as prime minister.
