Divorce rumors: Prince William avoids Kate Middleton’s family to play with…

Prince William prefers taking James Middleton’s dog, Ella, for a walk over participating in the “fiercely competitive” games enjoyed by the Middleton family during downtime, RadarOnline.com has learned. In his book Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life, James revealed, “Ella gave him a perfect excuse to avoid the fiercely competitive atmosphere of the Middleton household, especially during our favorite fast-paced card game, Racing Demon.”
Royal expert Christopher Andersen echoed this sentiment, noting, “William and Kate’s card games are so intense and all-consuming that William often finds excuses to steer clear. However, away from the high-stakes games with his in-laws, William has no qualms about challenging Kate in a competition.”

James also shared that the Prince of Wales is entirely content with “losing” during these high-energy card battles. “William would wince at our relentless drive to succeed,” he wrote. “He was thrilled to be the first one out of the game, and when he no longer had to participate, he’d retreat to cuddle Ella. Even better, he’d avoid the game altogether.”

A lifelong dog lover, William’s affection for animals is a trait he shared with his late grandmothers, Queen Elizabeth II and Frances Shand-Kydd, Princess Diana’s mother. James reflected on this love, recalling how William would often say, “James, does Ella need a walk?” before the card games even began. “My sisters and I would exchange knowing looks,” James added. “Despite his rigorous military training, William was more than happy to lose at cards.”

William grew up with dogs, forming deep bonds with them throughout his childhood and adolescence. However, the loss of a beloved pet was so emotionally overwhelming that he avoided getting another until Kate encouraged him to bring Lupo, a black cocker spaniel, into their family in 2011.

After Lupo’s death in 2020, William and Kate welcomed another cocker spaniel into their home. Bred by James Middleton, the new addition, named Orla, has become a cherished member of the family and is often seen accompanying the Wales family on various outings.
