Kate Middleton and Dad Defeat THIS Obstacle together before Married To William
The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, is known for being a keen sportswoman, having competed in many a sporting event throughout her public engagements (remember that time she raced against her husband, Prince William, while driving a land yacht?).
It’s only natural, given that while the Duchess was growing up in Bucklebury, Reading, the Middleton family’s love of sports fostered an extremely close bond with the tight-knit clan and a competitive nature within all three siblings too. Kate’s sister Pippa Middleton and her brother, James, have even gone on to compete in major bike races for charity, including the Race Across America in 2014 and the London to Brighton Bike Ride in 2015, for the British Heart Foundation.
But, the younger two Middleton siblings aren’t the only ones who have completed a major sporting challenge – it turns out Kate conquered a massive mountain climb with her dad Michael Middleton, before she married Prince William back in 2011. How sweet!
As the new ambassador for Hoka One, Pippa has revealed how fitness played a huge role in her and her sibling’s upbringing and the sweet bonding moment between Kate and their dad Michael.
In the blog post, Pippa said: “My parents inspired my love for walking in the mountains and both joined me and my brother [in 2008] to the first hut when we climbed Mont Blanc (my father summited it with my sister a few years before).”
While the exact date of Kate and Michael’s epic trek to the summit, which is known as the ‘roof of Europe’, wasn’t revealed, we’re still more than impressed by what a feat it is!
At 4,810m, Mont Blanc is the highest mountain in the Alps, with the hike to the summit taking around three to seven days to complete depending on the route and accommodation and can cost upwards of £2,099 per person and is usually undertaken in the summer months.
It certainly is a massive accomplishment for the father-daughter duo and one which apparently the entire Middleton family like to take part in every couple of years. Michael, Carole, Pippa and her son Arthur, climbed to the first hut of the mountain again in 2018; confirming again that one thing’s for sure: sport definitely runs in this family’s blood.
Just imagine bumping into the Middletons as you’re treking up Mont Blanc in your woollies? Here’s hoping Kate makes a return with her own royal brood soon. Now, what a delight for fellow hikers that would be!
