King Charles has been given some valuable advice from his daughter-in-law Kate Middleton, having both undergone treatment for cancer.
The Princess of Wales revealed her cancer diagnosis in March, before announcing in September she had finished her “preventative” chemotherapy. King Charles is still undergoing treatment after announcing his own cancer diagnosis in February.
A source has suggested Kate and Charles have been looking to one another for advice and support throughout their treatment. They said Kate has been trying to encourage the monarch to open up more with fans.
The source explained: “Because she loves spending time with him, Kate’s been giving Charles a little nudge recently to let his guard down and provide the world with a glimpse of the Charles she admires.” They said Charles has been happy to be “learning lessons from Kate.
The source added to Life and Style magazine: “The truth is, behind the scenes, Charles was always pretty down-to-earth. For example, he just loves being in nature, which is something he and Kate have in common. He also loves to cook and swim, and he adores his grandchildren.”
Speaking about Kate and Charles’ cancer struggles, the source said it has “drawn them closer.” They continued: “Kate was the one comforting Charles at times, but he also really took his royal hat off to just be a supportive father-in-law.”
Charles is said to be “happy” he has taken Kate’s advice and shown a more personal side of himself to his fans. Both Kate and Charles have made a slow return since announcing their cancer news.
Kate joined her husband Prince William and King Charles at the annual Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Saturday night. They also came together for the Remembrance Sunday Cenotaph service.
Charles has also been busy in recent weeks, having just been on a tour of Australia and Samoa with his wife Queen Camilla. Charles briefly paused his cancer treatment for the trip after being given the okay by doctors.
