Felt humiliated: Prince William once treated Kate like doormat, when he was spotted clubbing with…
Kate Middleton reportedly once felt “humiliated” and believed Prince William was treating her “like a doormat” during their relationship break when he was seen with other girls at clubs.
Their love story has captivated the world since they first met at the University of St Andrews in Scotland in 2001, and despite now being parents to three children, they’ve had their share of challenges before finally getting married.
The pair experienced a split in 2004 and again in 2007, with the latter leaving the Princess of Wales “desperately upset.” During their 2010 engagement interview, William mentioned they needed to “find their own way” and “grow up,” without delving into specifics about the separation.
Katie Nicholl, royal correspondent for the Mail Online in 2007, suggested that the second breakup occurred because William felt the “fun” had faded from their relationship. Following the split, reports surfaced of Kate feeling “humiliated” as William was seen at various London nightclubs with different women.
Friends of Kate spilled the tea on a past tiff with William, revealing that she felt he was “cheapening her image” with his behavior. A pal close to Kate disclosed to the press: “Kate told William that he was making her look bad.” They highlighted how she had tolerated admirers pursuing her beau for years, initially taking it as humorous and even complimentary, reports the Mirror.
However, she reached her limit after William’s recent antics, confronting him with an ultimatum and stressing that his public conduct was tarnishing both their reputations.
She told him she wasn’t prepared to be treated like a doormat and that his carefree behaviour was affecting her image. In the past, she had always let go of things like that, but this really bothered her.
Kate’s stern words seemed to resonate with William, as the couple patched things up and were seen together just three months following the incident. Their romance continued to blossom, leading to a dreamy wedding at Westminster Abbey in 2011.
Today, they are the proud parents of kids Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
