Kate Middleton ‘heartbroken’ over Prince William decision that could ‘tear family apart

Prince William has ‘won’ a bitter feud between him and wife Kate Middleton which has reportedly left her ‘heartbroken’. The King-in-waiting has longed for their eldest child, Prince George, to attend one of the country’s top boarding schools – and it seems that he has been granted his wish.

Last year, the Prince and Princess of Wales were spotted surveying Eton College, fuelling rumours about Prince George’s educational future. Going to Eton would mean following in the footsteps of his dad, Prince William, and uncle, Prince Harry.

An insider last year suggested that the Princess of Wales was apprehensive about the day her son would leave for boarding school, but she has now recognised it as an inevitable part of his Royal journey, as reported by the Express. The source disclosed: “Kate long disagreed with her husband about sending him away, even though it’s tradition.

Kate thinks sending him to such a stuffy, upper-crust institution goes against all of their efforts to modernise the monarchy,“ reports the Daily Record. “Plus, she’ll miss George desperately. She and William argued about it for years, but he has finally won.”

Prince William himself joined the prestigious school in 1995, where he stayed during term time, often spending weekends with his grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth, at Windsor Castle nearby. An insider expressed Kate’s agreement to enrol George at the exclusive £15,432-a-term school, stating that the Duchess reportedly “finally gave in” after recognising her son’s desire to emulate his father.

Chatting with In Touch Weekly, the source continued to reveal: “But she’s still heartbroken. She was horribly bullied at her first boarding school, and can’t bear the thought of George suffering through that.”

For admission to Eton, candidates have to undertake a 150-minute verbal and mental reasoning test, where usually, a score of 125 or above is considered competitive. After relocating to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor last year in 2022, the Royal couple shifted all their children to the nearby Lambrook school.

The insider added: “But it still seems as if her family is being torn apart. There’s also the worry that William will insist the other two kids be shipped off next. Kate knows this is all part of her ‘royal duty’.”
