Prince William’s blunt response to Harry and Meghan’s pregnancy announcement at…
Upon sharing the exciting news of Meghan Markle’s first pregnancy, Prince Harry later revealed the four-worded reaction from his brother to the news that his wife was expecting.
While relations between the two royals have become tense in recent years, following Harry and Meghan’s departure from the Royal Family in 2020, they were on good terms at the time Meghan and Harry found out she was pregnant with their son, Archie.
They decided to reveal the news on the same day as their cousin, Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank, in October 2018.
As Prince Harry detailed in his bombshell memoir, Spare, the pair pulled each family member aside to tell them the good news.
Harry writes the couple “whispered the news to Prince William” during the wedding drinks reception, and he states William smiled and uttered a four-worded response: “We must tell Kate.
Describing the moment Kate found out the news, Harry details: “She was across the room, talking to Pippa. I said we could do it later, but he insisted. So we went and told Kate and she also gave a big smile and hearty congratulations. They both reacted exactly as I’d hoped.”
Harry also opened up about the sweet moment they told his father, King Charles, recalling: “He was delighted to learn that he was going to be a grandfather for a fourth time, his wide smile warmed me.”
Archie was born at Portland Hospital, an American-owned, private medical hospital in London’s Westminster on the morning of May 6, 2019 – he has largely remained out of the public eye since his birth.
On June 4 2021, Harry and Meghan celebrated the arrival of their second child, a daughter named Lilibet Diana, in Santa Barbara, California.
It has been claimed the Duke wants to provide a trauma-free life for his children and avoid repeating the history of his own traumatic childhood.
Former BBC royal correspondent, Jennie Bond, discussed Harry’s parenting style as his milestone birthday approaches. Speaking with OK! Magazine, she said: “I think he finds the security and anchor in his little family that was sadly missing in his own broken childhood home.”
She added: “I think he is relishing his role as a parent and playing the fullest part he can in the lives of his two tots.”
In an attempt to break this cycle, however, the family’s move from the UK to America has resulted in Archie and Lilibet spending minimal time with relatives on both sides of their family.
King Charles is reportedly determined to get to know his grandchildren in California despite being thousands of miles away from them.
The King, 75, is spotted frequently with Prince William’s three children Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, however, has rarely ever been seen with Prince Harry’s kids – mainly because of distance.
