Now, as he prepares to hang up his racquets and embark on a new chapter, the excitement surrounding Nadal is far from fading. His magic is still very much alive, and nowhere is this more evident than in the frenzy over tickets for the Davis Cup that have skyrocketed to unbelievable heights.

The Spanish sensation took to his Instagram and updated about his retirement in a video message. He thanked his team and fans and shared that the Davis Cup final would be his last. “I think I’ve come full circle since one of my first great joys as a professional tennis player was the Davis Cup final in Sevilla in 2004,” Nadal said in the video. This did not just give heartbreak to the tennis community but also created an aspiration amongst fans to watch him play in his last few matches. However, the resale of tickets for the Davis Cup has impacted the desire of many.

The announcement of retirement resulted in an exorbitant price rise of tickets by the resellers who are selling them between $1642 (1500 Euros) and as high as $37775 (34500 Euros), per the Spanish publication Mundo de Portivo. The publication reported that the season tickets for the finals were sold out already amid the expectations of Nadal appearing in the tournament. Hence, the only option for fans now is to buy the tickets from reselling platforms where the tickets are seats in the middle grade that cost up to 37820 USD (34,541 Euros).

For the unversed, the quarterfinal clash between the Netherlands and Spain will take place on November 19, the ticket prices for which are up to $132 (120 Euros), per the official website of the Davis Cup. The premium category 1 and the VIP category tickets, meanwhile, are fixed at $151 (138 Euros) and $575 (525 Euros), respectively. The prices are a little higher for the finals, which are scheduled to be held on November 24. While the normal category tickets are priced at a maximum of $208 (190 Euro), the premium and VIP category tickets are fixed at $241 (220 Euros) and $712 (650 Euros). However, the prices at the reselling platforms show a different reality.

However, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) has clarified that a specific number of seats will be reserved for countries that advance to the semi-finals and finals. Hence, the opportunity for fans to witness Nadal play will still be available at affordable rates from the official sites. It is not just the fans who seem to be impacted by Rafael Nadal’s retirement decision; his fellow players are also depicting similar sentiments.
