Princess Kate risked being ‘stranded’ in dangerous moment revealed by James Middleton
The Princess of Wales once had quite a memorable walk with her brother, James Middleton, which nearly ended in disaster, it has emerged.
Princess Kate’s brother released a new book titled Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life, in which he opened up about his battle with depression and how his spaniel Ella, who’s now passed away, was instrumental in saving his life.
He also shared glimpses of his life behind the scenes, many of which involve his royal sister and other members of the Firm.
And in a segment serialised by Newsweek, James talked about a particular visit to his sister when she was in Anglesey, Wales, which saw them in a dangerous situation as they strolled along the Welsh coast.
Prince William and Princess Kate once lived very remotely on the island of Anglesey, before the future King popped the question and during the early years of their marriage
The couple spent three years in Anglesey from 2010 to 2013, due to the prince’s job as a search and rescue pilot with the Royal Air Force.
In the book, James recalled a time he visited his sister when William was on duty, after the birth of Prince George in July 2013.
He wrote: “I have cherished memories of visiting them there with Ella when George was still a baby and going for bracing walks along clifftops and across vast golden beaches with Catherine while William was at work.
“We consulted the tide timetables and watched the ebb and flow of the sea, but one day, engrossed in our walk, we nearly got stranded, only saving ourselves by taking a long detour and getting back to their cottage after nightfall.
He also reflected on the Waleses’s relationship, saying: “Their life together in their seaside cottage with George seemed idyllic, and I remember thinking: ‘I can’t wait to meet someone and have my own family.’
“I chatted to Ella about it as I always did, sharing my thoughts and wishes. ‘When that happens,’ I told her, ‘I’ll feel complete.
James’s wishes came true a few years later, as he married Alizee Thevenet in 2021. The couple welcomed their son, Inigo, in 2023.
Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life by James Middleton was published on September 26, priced £22 and you can buy it here.
