Prince Harry asked to stay with Royal Family after his bombshell announcement

Prince Harry, who’s set to arrive in the UK on September 30, reportedly held important talks with the country’s key politician after his life-changing decision.

The Duke of Sussex, who said goodbye to the royal job in 2020, was asked to stay in Britain by ex-British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

King Charles’ younger son Harry was also urged to reconsider his decision of stepping back from his royal role by Johnson, according to a new report.
In his upcoming memoir, Unleashed, Johnson reportedly writes about meeting the Duke on the prince’s final day as a working royal in January 2020.

According to a preview of the book, which is set to be serialized in the Daily Mail, Johnson writes that there was “a ridiculous business… when they made me try to persuade Harry to stay. Kind of manly pep talk. Totally hopeless.”

The 20-minute meeting took place behind the scenes of the January 2020 UK-Africa investment summit in London, according to the outlet.

Explaining the meeting, a friend is quoted as saying, “It was a man-to-man conversation. They were totally alone. But Harry wasn’t for turning — he was unpersuadable by that point.”

Harry had already made a speech in which he said he and his wife Meghan Markle had “no other option” but to step back from royal life.

“It was so many months of talks after so many years of challenges,” Harry added. “I know I haven’t always gotten it right, but as far as this goes, there really was no other option. What I want to make clear is we’re not walking away, and we certainly aren’t walking away from you.”

The Sussexes announced on January 8, 2020, that they would step back from their royal duties and become “financially independent.” Meghan flew back to Canada, while Harry stayed on for talks with his family at the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.
