Emma Raducanu flooded with emotional messages after ‘heartbreaking’ injury

Emma Raducanu gave a subtle hint that she has stuck around in China despite pulling out of the China Open earlier this week.

And fans have flooded her Instagram with messages of support after her latest setback.

The British No. 2 looked like she was starting to get back to her best after a disappointing US Open where she crashed out at the first round.

But she had to withdraw from her match against top seed Daria Kasatkina at the Korean Open on Saturday.

A foot injury ended her run in Seoul, where she looked in fine fettle after beating Peyton Stearns and Yue Yuan to reach the last eight.

And further problems arose when the injury forced her to pull out of the China.

Her mother is from Shenyang and has travelled with her to Asia to hopefully watch her compete in Beijing.

But while Raducanu’s injury troubles have prevented that, it has not been a wasted trip with the mother and daughter making a trip to Shenyang.

Raducanu posted on Instagram to show the two having arrived in the city, alongside plenty of baggage.

And fans have shown immense support for the 21-year-old with many hoping her latest setback is not a significant one.

One fan wrote: “So good to hear from you Emma! Great to see you smiling. Hope your recovery goes well. Take care and have the best time in China.”

This fan replied: “Life on the road looks heavy work, Emma. Hope to see you back playing soon. Speedy recovery.”
And another posted: “Welcome home Emma. Feel heartbroken you have to withdraw in this way. Get well soon and next year we will definitely see you play in Beijing.”

While this fan said: “Shenyang girl back home.”
A fifth put: “Wow! Seems like you are in Shenyang already! Have fun at home and we all love you so much.”

Injuries have been the bane of Raducanu’s career after spending most of 2023 sidelined.

She underwent operations on both of her wrists and her ankle, ending her season midway through the year but there have been signs she is returning this year.

The 2021 US Open winner reached the fourth round of Wimbledon earlier this year, the first time she has done so since her incredible Flushing Meadows victory.

She not drop a set, beating ninth seed Maria Sakkari in the third round before crashing out over three sets to Lulu Sun.
