Threatens action: Rose Hanbury Finally break silence over Prince William affair rumor

Putting it to rest. Rose Hanbury finally responded to those Prince William affair rumors. Amid Kate Middleton’s surgery recovery, rumors about an extramarital affair have been resurfacing due to the internet’s interest in the drama.

Rose Cholmondeley (née Hanbury) is the wife of David Cholmondeley (pronounced Chumley), 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley. A Marquess (and his wife, a Marchioness) holds the fourth most senior rank in the British nobility (behind King/Queen, Prince/Princess, and Duke/Duchess). The Cholmondeleys are particularly notable, however, as they are hereditary co-holders of the office of Lord Great Chamberlain.

David was named King Charles’ Lord-in-Waiting meanwhile their son, Oliver, was named as one of the king’s pages, who was tasked with holding the robes of the king, alongside Prince George on Coronation Day. The couple also share another son, Alexander—Oliver’s twin—and daughter Iris. Not only is Rose connected to the royal family through her friendship with Kate, but her grandmother, Lady Elizabeth Lambert, was a bridesmaid at Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip’s wedding in November 1947. Here’s what Rose Hanbury said about the alleged Prince William affair.

Rose Hanbury Responds To Prince William Affair Rumors
Business Insider reached out to all parties involved with the affair scandal. While Kensington Palace “declined to comment,” Hanbury said through her lawyers that “the rumors are completely false.” This marks the first time that Hanbury has publicly said something about the affair ever since the rumors emerged.

Royal expert Nick Bullen told Us Weekly: “I know people who know the Marchioness of Cholmondeley very, very well, and she absolutely was not having an affair with the Prince of Wales. Even when those rumors broke a few years ago, she was very upset by them then. She’s still very upset by them now.”

After Stephen Colbert made a joke at her expense about the affair, Hanbury’s lawyers sent a legal notice. In a statement to In Touch, lawyers for Rose Hanbury said: “The rumor appears to have entered into the mainstream media recently as a result of another joke made about it on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. We have written on our client’s behalf to CBS and various other reputable media organisations to confirm that the allegation is false.”

Did Prince William have an affair with Rose Hanbury?
Did Prince William have an affair with Rose Hanbury? No, they did not have an affair according to various reports close to the families.

In a now-deleted article, The Sun reported that Kate Middleton had asked Prince William to have Hanbury “phased” out from their inner circle of friends. Prince William’s role in all of it was simply a husband trying to get his wife to get along with a neighbor. (Rose and her husband, David, live in a neighboring estate to The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s country manor, Amner Hall)

Daily Mail reported that the falling out was indeed false and both parties “considered legal action.” Though they chose not to go forward with it since “none of the reports have been able to offer any evidence about what the so-called dispute is about, they have chosen to ignore it.”

A family source also told the outlet that “these hurtful rumors of a fallout are simply false.”

They continued, “William and David [Rose’s husband] were in touch with each other over the weekend, not knowing whether to laugh or complain. Both wives are hurt by the suggestion that there is any argument or even a coolness between them. They have plans for future events involving their charity.”

Days later, In Touch published a now-deleted report of Prince William having an affair with Rose Hanbury while Kate Middleton was pregnant with their third child.

A source told the site that Kate “immediately confronted” William, who “just laughed it off saying there was nothing to it.”

The site also claimed that Kate ordered William to stop seeing the Cholmondeleys. “Kate sees their friendship in an entirely different light now,” In Touch’s source says, adding that her trust in William has wavered.

The Daily Beast reported that In Touch’s reports are clearly not true. Courtiers told the site that the story “was totally wrong and false.”

The site reported that at least one British publication was served with legal warnings due to the rumors. The letter from law firm Harbotte and Lewis states that “in addition to being false and highly damaging, the publication of false speculation in respect of our clients’ private life also constitutes a breach of his privacy pursuant to Article 8 of the European Convention to Human Rights.

Prince William and Rose Hanbury affair rumors seem to emerge again after the mysterious events surrounding Kate Middleton.

What happened to Kate Middleton?

Kensington Palace announced that Kate Middleton had a “planned abdominal surgery” at The London Clinic on January 16, 2024. “The surgery was successful, and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery,” the statement said. “Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”

Rumors started to take momentum when The Princess of Wales uploaded a picture for Mother’s Day. The photo marked Kate Middleton‘s first photo since her abdominal surgery in January 2024. It features Kate in the middle while hugging and embracing her three kids, Prince George, Prince Louis, and Princess Charlotte. “Thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the last two months,” Kate Middleton wrote in the caption. “Wishing everyone a Happy Mother’s Day. C”

Many eagle-eyed fans saw the edits on the photo such as Prince Louis’ fingers and around Princess Charlotte’s dress. Kate Middleton issued an apology on social media for the mistakes. “Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C,” she wrote on X.

Newspapers like The Associated Press had recalled the picture due to the inconsistencies. AP said that “the source had manipulated the image in a way that did not meet AP’s photo standards. For instance, it contained an inconsistency in the alignment of Princess Charlotte’s left hand with the sleeve of her sweater.”

A source close to the Royal family assures that it was all a mistake and that the family had a great Mother’s Day together. The source told People that Kate wanted “minor adjustments” to the “amateur, family photograph taken by the Prince of Wales.”
