A PR expert has claimed that the Princess of Wales appeared to be trying to share a subtle message to royal fans with her hopeful update on her cancer journey.
Six months after revealing that she was undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer, Princess Kate shared the welcome news that she had finished chemotherapy earlier this month.
The mother-of-three shared the update in a beautifully shot video by Will Warr. The clip, which was captured last month, showed clips of Kate enjoying quality time with Prince William and their children whilst sharing the news through a voiceover.
Speaking to Express.co.uk, GoUp’s chief executive Edward Coram-James said that he believes the location of the video – which was in woodland – appears to show fans that Kate is “not yet out of the woods” – a phrase she used in her June message. A picture set in a woodland setting was also shared to confirm that Kate would be in attendance at this year’s Trooping the Colour.
Despite the news of her treatment coming to an end, the royal said in the video that her “path to healing and full recovery is long” and that she must “continue to take each day as it comes.
In the video, the 42-year-old added: “Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus”.
Mr Coram-James said: “Perhaps this is me reading too much into this. But, I have a suspicion that I’m not. Much of the Princess’s latest video was shot in a woodland setting. But with smiling children and a happy family. The Princess of Wales is not yet out of the woods.
“But, she’s on her way. And she has her family. And, for her, that makes things okay.
“The Royal Family as for centuries used subtle symbolism in their portraits, statements, photographs and films to make a point. It seems that this may be another example of it.
Speaking of her new outlook on life, Kate added: “This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved.
She also added: “I am however looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can. Despite all that has gone before, I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life.”
Although she is yet to make an official return to duties, Kate took to Windsor Castle on Wednesday for her first meeting since revealing her chemotherapy had ended. Kensington Palace has confirmed that this engagement is the first record of Kate’s professional activity since January.
