Unbelievably trite: Prince Harry sparks fury as Netflix teaser releases just hours after Kate’s…
Prince Harry has landed himself in hot water once again after announcing his latest project with Netflix, just hours after Princess Kate updated the world on her cancer treatment.
In a poignant family video posted to social media, the Princess of Wales announced she has finished her chemotherapy for an undisclosed form of cancer, and is “looking forward to getting back to royal duties.
However, just 100 minutes after the stunning video was shared by Kate, Prince Harry revealed his latest documentary series with Netflix, POLO.
In a post on social media, Netflix announced: “POLO is a new documentary series that follows elite global players and offers an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the fast-paced world of the sport. From Archewell Productions and Boardwalk Pictures, premiering this December only on Netflix.
Reacting to the move by the Duke of Sussex, commentator Mike Parry blasted the announcement as “unbelievably trite”, expressing his disbelief at his decision to share the news on the same afternoon as the Princess.
Parry raged: “Unbelievably trite, I could not believe it. After we got that wonderful three minute video of Catherine celebrating a return to health, but at the same time, a warning that cancer can come back any time – we don’t know if she’s in the clear, you’re never really in the clear.
“Catherine got it absolutely right, but what was so utterly trite about this very uplifting and quite solemn production was a few hours later, Harry and Meghan think it is important to the world to let them know what their latest project is involving polo.”
Offering his view on the announcement, former Labour MP Stephen Pound paid tribute to the Princess of Wales, offering her his “best wishes.
Pound told GB News: “I think we shouldn’t let this pass without actually giving our best wishes to Kate Middleton.
She actually came to my local scout group in Northolt, with no publicity, she just sat there talking to the scouts. And she was absolutely amazing – then we compare that with this nonsense from Harry and Meghan.”
Criticising the Sussexes further, Pound also noted the apparent failure of the Duchess’s lifestyle company, American Riviera Orchard.
Pound added: “I see Meghan is now losing enormous amount of money with her California Jam product scheme, nobody wants to buy it.”
Host Andrew Pierce agreed, responding: “It’s amazing because I thought she was going to become a great feminist and champion of downtrodden women – you don’t that by making pots of jam.
Turning the discussion to Meghan’s affiliations with US politics, Mike Parry swiped that he was “surprised” he didn’t see the royal at the Presidential debate in support of Kamala Harris.
Parry told GB News: “I was very surprised she wasn’t waiting while Kamala came off the stage last night, because that’s the sort of thing she would do.”
POLO is the next project to premiere on the streaming platform after the success their fly-on-the-wall documentary series, Harry & Meghan.
The Duchess is also set to produce a lifestyle and cooking series, in line with her lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard.
