Meghan has cut ties with the UK in all but name as she makes her feelings clear on losing…

This week Meghan Markle has made clear that she has her sights set firmly on building her brand in the US with little thought of her popularity, or lack of it, in the UK.

The Duchess of Sussex’s Netflix series titled ‘With Love, Meghan’ dropped on Tuesday after being delayed by almost two months.

The eight episodes saw Meghan joined by friends, celebrities and TV chefs as they prepared meals in a mansion she rented in California, rather than her own home.

The series has been tied together with the launch of Meghan’s lifestyle brand
The products which include jams, teas, and biscuits among other things can currently only be ordered within the 50 States of America.

They will also be available to buy in Netflix’s US department stories in a new development in the Duchess of Sussex’s partnership with the streaming giant.

However, the decision to initially only offer the products in the US reflects a wider trend of Meghan focussing on her home country.

The US is a much larger market than the UK, but with Prince Harry’s ties to the country through the Royal Family and a high level of interest in the couple remaining, the snub is surprising.

Meghan has not visited the UK since September 2022 when she attended Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.

She opted not to attend King Charles’s Coronation in May 2023 and has not joined Prince Harry during the many trips he has made to the UK in the last two years.

The Duke of Sussex said last year that he does not feel it is safe to bring Meghan to the UK and vowed his wife would not return to the UK until his security provision has been upgraded, an issue Harry is appealing in court this year.

Meghan’s reluctance to return to the UK makes it all the more bizarre that she highlighted her love for the surname Sussex during her Netflix show and promotional interviews for the series this week.

Harry and Meghan were given their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles in 2018 after getting married in May 2018.

Despite this, Meghan has only visited the county of Sussex once.

Sussex residents this week hit out at Meghan and called for her to return to the UK and the country to earn the right to use the title.

It is doubtful Meghan will return to the UK anytime soon, with even slimmer chances of a public appearance in Sussex, but her use of the county as her surname rather than Markle looks to be here for the long term.

The Duchess made her stance clear on being called Markle rather than Sussex in a tense exchange with American actress Mindy Kaling in the second episode of her Netflix series.

Meghan then doubled down on this in both the interviews she undertook to promote the Netflix series, first with People magazine and then a TV appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show.

Royal sources regarded this as a “warning shot” from the Sussexes on any attempt to strip them of their titles.
During the TV appearance, the host referred to the Duchess as ‘Meghan Sussex.
