Kensington Palace release August Rewind of Kate Middleton and Prince William with his…

It’s the first day of September, which means it’s time to reminisce on the royal family’s highlights. The ‘July Rewind’ was a whirlwind of fun photos of Kate Middleton and Princess Charlotte and Prince George’s birthday, so what did last month bring?

Kensington Palace just shared the ‘August Rewind’ on their Instagram Story, featuring videos and photos of their non-profits, the Great Britain Olympic team and a very special guest (but I’ll go into that in a bit).

The first slide was about Homewards, a five-year initiative under the Royal Foundation, which aims to end homelessness across the U.K. On August 6, the reel featured a sneak peek of Homewards: Reframed, an art exhibition that highlights homelessness at the Saatchi Gallery in London.

The next slide elaborated more on the exhibition as it read, “Created to change the perception of homelessness through art.” The video compilation had interviews with some of the artists, who shared their own personal stories behind their artwork.

But the next IG story made me do a double take. On August 11, Kensington Palace posted a special video for the Great Britain Olympic team. While it started out with host Snoop Dogg, the next clip was a shoutout from Kate Middleton, Prince William…and his new scruff.

In the video, the Princess of Wales says, “From all of us watching at home, congratulations to Team GB.” Then Prince William continues with, “Well done on all you’ve achieved. You’ve been an inspiration to us all.”

While the snippet was short and sweet, the comment section couldn’t stop pointing out the new beard. As one fan said: “William is really in vacation mode.” The reel also had shoutouts from other big British stars (like David Beckham), but I’m still hung up on the summer scruff…

The last two slides highlighted another organization that the royals support. In 2020, Prince William launched the Earthshot Prize, a global enviornmental award that highlights individuals striving to help the planet. On August 14, Kensington Palace shared a video on the 2024 finalists and the contributions of this four-year-old initiative.

It looks like the royal family (and Prince William’s beard) had an eventful August. Here’s to September.
